🧶 DIY Tutorial: Make your own cross-stitch magnet

Hi there — this is the beginning of your Ellipsis Box DIY journey ✨

🧵 What’s inside your DIY kit

- Pre-cut plastic Aida fabric
- One or two magnets
- Felt for the back
- Size 7 embroidery needle
- DMC embroidery threads
🧩 The cross stitch pattern is available by scanning the QR code included in your kit.
If you encounter any issue, send me a message 💌
Estimated time: about 3 hours — perfect for a cozy afternoon with some chill (or epic!) music 🎶

✂️ Step 1 — Follow the Pattern on the Aida Canvas

Look at the legend on your model to match each colour to its section.
I usually stitch left to right and top to bottom.
Counting is key 🧮 — make sure you start your pattern in the right place so it fits perfectly on the canvas.- Each DMC strand has 6 threads → use 2 strands for your stitches.
- Thread your needle and make a small triple or quadruple knot at one end.

🧵 Making a Single Cross Stitch

Start from the back → out at 1, in at 2, out at 3, in at 4 — and voilà, your first cross ✨

🎨 Several Stitches in a Row

Work a line of half-stitches in one direction, then cross them on the way back.

🔒 Secure the thread

When your thread is finished, or you’re done with a colour, secure the thread on the back by sliding it under a few existing stitches.

✂️ Step 2 — Trim the Excess Canvas

Once your stitching is complete, use scissors ✂️ to carefully cut away the extra Aida around your design.
Keep a small border to protect your stitches.

💖 Step 3 — Sew the Felt on the Back

Place your magnet 🧲 in the center of the felt.
With a single thread of colour (I used 3799), make a running stitch all around the design.
Stop before closing it completely — slip the two magnets inside, then finish the stitches to close the seam.

✂️ Step 4 — Cut the Excess Felt

Trim the extra felt carefully so you don’t cut your running stitches.
